Start as you mean to go on (Day 2)
Mar. 4th, 2014 01:20 pm(OOC: Just establishing that Kelis has started making friends in the Weyr. Sex friends. Feel free to gossip! Seivei, you're going to have the room to yourself a lot of nights.)
A queen laying eggs put the Weyr in a good mood. Most of the Weyr -- some of the Candidates certainly seemed nervous about the small number of eggs. Kelis, after her initial surprise, took it in stride. Impressing a dragon was a new notion to her and not one it would disappoint her too much to miss, she thought. Besides, worrying about the future had never done her any good at all, and anyway it was a dull thing to do, so she didn't.
The long and short of it was, if everyone else was celebrating, Kelis was going to celebrate, too. Which was why she was on a settee in a semi-private corner of a public room, slung half over a dragonrider's lap with his hand on her thigh, under her skirt. They weren't the only ones. She was going to like the Weyr very much if this was how they went about things. No one was going to be getting after her for not acting like a lady, with so many other not-ladies in the Weyr. The man was a greenrider, S'something. He had bright green eyes and a long, thin body, and though she hadn't seen it yet she could feel hard muscles under his clothes. That was nice. She liked muscles.
"I've been thinking," she said, breathless, when he stopped kissing her long enough for her to talk. He looked a little glazed and was mostly staring at her mouth, which was excellent. He wouldn't be hard to hold on to. Of course, men so rarely were. Much the opposite, sometimes -- some grabbed on to you like emotional vines and you had to practically shear through them to get them to let go.
"I just found out yesterday that men go with men in the Weyr sometimes. And women with women, right?" Yes, she'd sounded stupid asking yesterday in class, but the sting had long since faded and anyway, S'something wasn't in a position to say anything snide. She had the high ground if he needed a lesson. But he was a gentleman and just nodded, eyes narrowing in curiosity. So she went on, "Well, if all the green dragons are girls but most of their riders are men, and all the boy dragons except for that one blue everyone talks about are also ridden by men, then doesn't that mean that lots of dragonriders have to go with men? I know about mating flights." The sex parts, at least. She'd paid attention to that, even if the finer points of Weyr politics had so far passed her by.
S'whoever blinked. "Yes?" He sounded unsure, or maybe he was shaky because of how she'd shifted on his lap. He said, "I don't, usually. I mean, in a mating flight, sure, it's whatever Nernith wants, and it's nice, but otherwise usually I, uh, I like girls. Women. Like you? Not that I always jump out of bed right after with a man, that'd be rude and anyway --" His brain audibly caught up with his mouth and he stuttered to a halt. "That's not a problem, is it? I know you Holders can be, well, different ..."
Kelis giggled and kissed him again, a quick peck on the lips and drawing back fast before he could deepen it. "Oh, no, not a problem at all. I think it's interesting!" She looked around, saw the room was starting to get a little crowded and she did, after all, have limits. Sometimes. "If you take me back to your weyr, we can talk about it more. Would you like that?"
Of course when they got to his bed -- that was her second ride on a green dragon, and both had ended in something good! -- they didn't talk much at all.
